Plastic waste in our oceans has become a well-known problem: a simple Google search finds some 64,400,000 results relating to the issue. Meanwhile, a recent survey conducted by The Economist Intelligence Unit revealed that plastic pollution is seen as the top priority for restoring ocean health by the general public (mentioned by 60%). But why are we so aware?
