How would you describe the feasibility of coral-reef conservation on a large scale?

Coral-reef conservation becomes feasible at scale only if it is profitable for those who rely on the reef ecosystem for income. The calculation is straightforward: a fisherman can derive value from a reef by catching and selling fish. If the same fisherman can earn significantly more by participating in reef preservation, they are likely to do so. Therefore, incentivising long-term preservation requires a mechanism that generates value from a protected reef.
