Why ocean literacy is crucial for the leaders of tomorrow

Peter Thomson, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for the Ocean, doesn't hesitate when asked what he would do if he had a spare US$1bn to spend on saving the ocean.
"There is a fundamental disconnect between what we know in ocean science and what the majority of the population knows. (...) If we give people that knowledge, then they are going to start making the right decisions," he says.
